DFV Test Leishmania
Immunochromatographic device for the detection of antibodies against leishmania in canine serum (preferably), plasma or whole blood (with anticoagulant).

A high level of antibodies against leishmania indicates the possible presence of the parasite.

It is possible to assay serum, plasma and whole blood samples with anticoagulant (citrate, heparin or EDTA). Do not use highly haemolysed or coagulated samples. Samples are stable for up to 4 hours at room temperature and for up to 2 days at 2-8 ºC. Serum and plasma samples can be kept frozen for several months.

Bring sealed pouch and sample to room temperature only if they were kept in refrigeration. Remove the device from the pouch and place it on a flat surface once everything is ready to perform the assay. Important: Do not move the device until the assay has finalized.

1. Using one pipette, place 1 drop (20 μl) as small as possible of whole blood with anticoagulant (citrate, heparin or EDTA), serum or plasma in the sample well (S) with the pipette as centred as possible but without touching the membrane, check that the sample has penetrated the membrane. Samples with different viscosities can take longer in being absorbed.

2. Open the sample buffer vial and add its complete content slowly to the sample well (S).

3. Read the results 10 minutes after the addition of the sample buffer.

Positive (+): One coloured band appears on the test area (T) and another on the control area (C). The result is positive although the band colours are weak.
Negative (-): A single coloured band appears on the control area (C).
Not Valid (NV): If no coloured band appears on the control area (C), it is recommended to repeat the assay with a new device.

Anticoagulant tube (EDTA), 1 pepette, 1 buffer solution vial, usage instructions and envelope with test device.

Keep at room temperature below 30 ºC. Refrigeration is not needed. Do not freeze. The product is stable until the expiry date indicated on the pouch if kept under adequate conditions. Do not use the product if the pouch is broken or if lines or stains are observed on the strip before using it.
