COMPOSITION:
Synthetic Oxytocin 10 IU
Excipient q.s.          1 ml

DESCRIPTION: Oxytocin is a hormone secreted by the pituitary back lobe gland. Its pre-hormone is synthesized in the endoplasm reticule and it is processed, carried and transported in the granules.

INDICATION: To induce birth. Uterine atony or inertia. Uterine involution after caesarean operation and decrease of haemorrhage. Expulsion of placenta and exudates after delivery. Beginning of milk secretion after delivery. Agalactia in sows. Chronic pyometra and endometritis, helps the expulsion of exudates. Coadjutant treatment of antibiotic therapy in acute and chronic mastitis helps to expulse residues and drainage.

TARGET SPECIES: Horse, cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, dogs and cat females (Cows, mares, goats, ewes, sows, cats and bitches).

ADMINISTRATION ROUTE: Intramuscular, endovenous or subcutaneous route.

POSOLOGY:
Obstetric (endovenous, intramuscular or subcutaneous route): Cows: 7.5 - 10 ml (75 - 100 IU) per animal. Mares (horse female): 7.5 - 15 ml (75 - 150 IU) per animal. Sows, ewes and goats (pig, sheep and goat females): 3.5 - 5 ml (35 - 50 IU) per animal. Bitches (dog female): 0.5 – 2.5 ml (5 - 25 IU) per animal. Cats: 0.5 - 1 ml (5 - 10 IU) per animal.
Milk secretion (preferably by endovenous route): Cows and mares (cattle and horse females): 1 - 2 ml (10 - 20 IU) per animal.
Sows, ewes and goats (pig, sheep and goat females): 0.5 - 2 ml (5 - 20 IU) per animal. Bitches (dog females): 0.2 - 1 ml (2 - 10 IU) per animal. Cats: 0.1 - 1 ml (1 - 10 IU) per animal.
Administration can be repeated every 30 minutes, according to the veterinarian's criteria.

WITHDRAWAL PERIOD: Not applicable.

SHELF-LIFE: 3 years, from production date.

COMMERCIAL PRESENTATION: 50 ml and 250 ml flasks.
