Double immunochromatographic device to independently detect in a single assay feline leukemia (FeLV) p27 antigen and antibodies against feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) in feline serum (preferably), plasma or whole blood (with anticoagulant).

Cats infected with the FeLV usually have detectable levels of p27 and the specific antibodies against FIV indicates the possible presence of FIV.

It is possible to assay serum, plasma and whole blood samples with anticoagulant (citrate, heparin or EDTA). Do not use highly haemolysed or coagulated samples. Samples are stable for up to 4 hours at room temperature and for up to 2 days at 2-8 ºC. Serum and plasma samples can be kept frozen for several months.

Bring all components of the test and sample to room temperature, if they were kept under refrigeration. Remove the device from the pouch and place it on a flat surface once everything is ready to perform the assay.

1. Add 1 drop (20 μl) of blood, serum or plasma to each of the two sample wells using the pipette as centred as possible but without touching the membrane. Check that the sample has penetrated the membrane. Samples with different viscosities can take longer to be absorbed.

2. Open one sample buffer vial and add its complete content slowly into one sample well (S). Add the content of other vial to the other sample well (S).

3. Read the results 10 minutes after the addition of the sample buffer.

(Read each test independently)

Positive (+): One coloured band appears on the test area (T) and other on the control area (C). The result is positive although the band colours are weak.
Negative (-): A single coloured band appears on the control area (C).
Not Valid (NV): If no coloured band appears on the control area (C), it is recommended to repeat the assay with a new device.

CONTENTS: Anticoagulant tube (EDTA), 2 sample buffer vials, 1 pipette, usage instructions and 1 pouch that includes 1 device.
